TERMINAL: The New Republic - Album Cover

Thomas Mark Anthony makes his case for being the genre’s best lyricist, weaving grand themes of power, zealotry and corruption through complex rhyme schemes and anthemic choruses.

Picking up where the previous album left off in its excoriation of society’s dangerous hypocrites, the first line of lyrics on the new album is “How many guns would Jesus buy?”

Plato’s Republic provides the album’s title and its theme—that an unjust society is a doomed society, that democracy in itself is no defense against demagogues or tyrants.

The Goth community will find much to like here with Anthony’s sonorous baritone more prominent in the mix and lyrics pondering existential themes of religion and mortality.

Compared to the rapid-fire delivery of Blacken The Skies, The new album’s songs are bigger in breadth, depth and duration; average song length is up from 3:18 to 4:35. More experimental influences are evident in the orchestral-inspired title track, and in the hard glam of Don’t Be Taken Alive, believed to be the first industrial blues shuffle.

The 2023 Terminal Live Unit lineup featuring new drummer Julie Exter plans to tour in the fall.

The album is dedicated to Dave Heckman, the late founder of Metropolis Records. Through his passion for developing music and bringing it to new audiences, his legacy touched literally millions of artists and fans.

Available as a pre-order on Bandcamp and the track “The Sin of the Sanctified” already streaming on EBM-Radio.com now!
